TempToxopert

Description:

TempToxopert is a knowledge-based system intented to support the clinician in analyzing the test results of routinely made toxoplasmosis tests with the objective of not only facilitating routine laboratory work but also assuring quality by setting standards for therapy.

The knowledge base of TempToxopert comprises knowledge that enables the system to either detect or exclude an infection with toxoplasma gondii by analyzing the results of several serological investigations carried out to detect toxoplasma-specific antibodies in serum. A variety of tests are available and have been included. They differ in the antibody type they respond to (IgG, IgM, and IgA) and in the quality of their response. Test results are obtained and processed in quantitative form, as titer, as index, or as percentage. The main possible interpretive categories of the system are: acute (postconceptual) infection, suspected acute infection, latent (preconceptional) infection, seronegative results, and inconsistent data. TempToxopert can be used in local area networks as well as from the inside of World Wide Web browsers.

Subsequent to entering the acquired data and test results into an applet the system generates the appropriate reports automatically.
